About Me

My name is Alyssa Diaz, an aspiring video game level designer. I recently graduated from The University of Texas at Austin studying and practicing game development! Besides doing schoolwork, I participated in game jams with fellow students. I am currently located in San Antonio, Texas. 

Video games have been in my life since before I was able to play them. I spent my earliest days watching my brother and father play games, eagerly anticipating my chance to join them. Needless to say, once I started playing games I never stopped. I gained a programming background in high school by being in robotics. I never had more drive than I did coding robots, and the feeling of seeing my work come to fruition and making my teammates happy was my favorite part of it all. Game design offers that same feeling while also promoting creative freedom. With that being said, I am much more interested in Level Design when it comes to game creation, and I've since moved away from coding. I believe that it's very fun to figure out what a player might do and work around that, awarding and punishing them accordingly. When I get to see someone play a level/game I designed, it is very rewarding, and it's interesting to see what they might do that I didn't think of before.

My favorite games include the Fire Emblem series, Minecraft, and Jet Set Radio. I’m mostly a fan of Nintendo games as they are what I grew up with, but I enjoy a wide variety of games outside of that! When I’m not playing video games I’m watching videos on YouTube and streams on Twitch. 

I am motivated simply by my passion for the craft, but I also work hard so I can reach my goals and have a chance to work for one of the many fantastic companies in Austin. I encourage you to look at all of the games I have here on my page- I and everyone working on them had a wonderful time developing them! I highly recommend HEARTSTRING and Frozen Cell.
